I matriculated at Somerset College last year with 7 distinctions hoping to get accepted into Medicine. Unfortunately I was rejected and decided to try flip to Medicine through the TUKS midyear transfer. Over the last six months I put everything I had into working towards this goal and with the help of Seventh Star I was able to successfully flip to MBChB midyear. I am Ilham Ismail and I matriculated at Crawford International Pretoria in 2022, I achieved 8 distinctions in matric, which was made made possible due to the help of Mr Mitton as well. The last 6 months of my journey to transfer from bsc to medicine were by no means easy. There were a lot of ups and downs and moments of feeling as if I wanted to give up, however,I persevered due to the motivation of my family, friends and Mr Mitton. Seventh star was a major help in helping me achieve my dream to study medicine, which is something I am extremely thankful for. Medicine is a career which excites me as I want to find alternative methods to help individuals who are suffering and I wish to uplift the marginalised sectors of society. Ek is Clarissa Evler, toekomstige mediese student vir 2024. My Journey was lekker rof gewees! In graad 10 het ek die moeilike besluit gemaak om wiskunde en wetenskap te los. Op skool was daar geen ordentlike ondersteuning en onderig in die vakke en ek was in stukke want my droom om medies te swot sou ook dan hier moes eindig. Ons het toe vir Johan Mitton gekontak en hy het voorgestel dat ek wisk en wetenskap as 2 addisionele vakke neem na my matriek. Ek het toe in 2022 ,na matriek n oorbruggings kurses gedoen om wetenskap en wiskunde op my matriek sertifikaat te hê by Master Maths. Met hulp van Seventh Star kon ek toe inkom vir BSc Extended by UP. Reg deur my jaar het ek ekstra klasse ook geneem by seventh star wat op die einde my gehelp het om in die top te wees en sodoende keuring vir medies gekry het! Seventh star was n blessing ! Meneer Mitton het ons almal so baie bygestaan, selfs al is dit net om bietjie te gesels en af te pak. Die Mentors by seven star is top klas gewees en het ons so baie extra "tips en tricks" geleer om goed makliker te onthou. Ek sou dit nie kon doen sonder hulle nie. Do lessons continue in the IEB/GDE holidays?

We teach straight through the GDE and IEB holidays. We are very passionate about getting our students to achieve their best results!

Do you teach on public holidays?

We generally do not teach on any public holidays as most of our NBT Courses stretch over long weekends and public holidays.

Do you also assist weaker candidates?

We help ALL students and some of our weaker candidates have improved their marks by up to 45%. The average improvement across all grades and subjects is 19%. You should also keep in mind that around a quarter of our students come to us already achieving 80's but need 90's to be accepted into their chosen degrees - this makes it slightly more difficult to show a higher average improvement percentage.

Do you offer one-on-one lessons?

We do not offer any one-on-one lessons as our schedule simply does not allow us to do so. We have also found in the past that one-on-one lessons are somewhat counterproductive as the tutor ends up doing all the work and the student often doesn't get the opportunity to work as independently as they should. Furthermore, the dynamic of our classes is different to that of school - school classrooms are often filled with students that are not focused on improving their marks (or even passing in general) whereas our classes only contain students that are willing to learn. This has the double sided benefit of increased conformity; where students apply themselves as well as a safe and productive environment to learn and practice. Socialisation amongst students is very powerful - we suggest that they receive it the right way.

How do your Contact Lessons work?

All of our lessons are group sessions and the number of students per class varies. We generally start a lesson by teaching one of the most common topics to all students, providing students with worksheets to practise. After this, we address the individual needs of students who must prepare for specific topics and/or tests. We give students many additional examples and exam relevant questions to practise.
