What is the cost of each Workshop and how long are they?
We have changed the way we charge for our Workshops. Previously, we would charge a fee for each Paper that a student wishes to prepare for. This year, we charge per subject (Paper 1 and Paper 2). The cost for a single subject is R500 and the cost for both subjects is R900.
Workshops for Grade 10 and 11's are 2 hours long and Workshops for Grade 12's are 4 hours long. Please note: There are no Prelim Workshops for Grade 10 and 11 students.
Are the Workshops recorded and can they be viewed later online?
Most definitely. Each Workshop is recorded and we will try our best to have the recordings up within 2 business days. Students can then rewatch the Workshops as they please.
What if there is a connection issue on the day?
While Seventh Star has made every conceivable effort to ensure that our streams are delivered without interruption, there can be times where students experience technical or connectivity issues. This may be due to a number of factors but is generally when a student experiences issues with their internet service provider. Please do not stress if a scenario like this presents itself. The recordings for the Workshop will be uploaded so that students can review the content as many times as needed.
Are the Workshops for IEB or CAPS students?
Our Workshops have been carefully designed to include students from both IEB and CAPS schools. There are of course, times where a specific topic is only directed to a student following a specific syllabus. In this scenario the lecturer will make it abundantly clear to students before continuing with the topic.
Do I already have to be a Seventh Star student in order to register?
No. Our series of Workshops is open to anyone who wishes to register, nation wide. However, a benefit of being a registered Contact student with Seventh Star is that you are invited to attend each Workshop IN PERSON - at no charge. If you are interested in registering for Extra Lessons - Contact, you can do so on the Extra Lessons Page.
Are these Workshops for advanced or beginner level students?
We highly encourage ALL students to register for our Workshops. We are certain that no matter the level of the student, these Workshops will be highly beneficial to all.
Do you offer any additional subjects other than Maths and Science?
Unfortunately at this stage, Seventh Star has focused on what we know best; Mathematics and Physical Sciences. We have achieved outstanding results in these disciplines over the past 8 years and our head lecturer has over 25 years of high quality educational experience.
If I am currently registered with Seventh Star for Extra Lessons, should I register for Workshops as well?
If you are a Contact student registered with Seventh Star, PLEASE DO NOT REGISTER for a Workshop. Contact students are invited to attend the Workshops in person, at no cost. Additionally, ALL Contact students will gain access to the Workshop streams through their Dashboard.
Online students will unfortunately need to register for the Workshops.
Should I only attend the Workshops to prepare for my examinations or should I also study?
Seventh Star will ALWAYS recommend that a student practices more. Our Workshops are extremely effective, but only lay out an effective strategy for students to successfully prepare for their examinations (mid-year, prelims or finals). It is still highly recommended that after the Workshops, students practice as many past paper exam questions as they can. Examiners tend to follow similar lines of questioning and therefore the more past paper questions a student completes, the more accurately the student will be able to identify the “type” of question in an exam environment.
