Why are there multiple options for each subject, covering the same content?
We have scheduled multiple options for each Workshop and although the same content is covered, we will review different examples. Students can choose how many of the same Workshop they would like to attend, but essentially repetition is not considered a bad idea, especially in disciplines such as Mathematics and Physical Sciences.
I registered for the Online Prelim Workshops. Do I need to register for these too?
If you are looking for a little extra preparation and want to attend a Contact Workshop, then we recommend registering. You DO NOT need to register for the Online version as the content is identical to the Online Prelim Workshops.
Do I already have to be a Seventh Star student in order to register?
No. Our series of Workshops is open to anyone who wishes to register, nation wide.
If I am currently registered with Seventh Star for Extra Lessons, should I register for Workshops as well?
Our Workshops tackle a different aspect to that of our Extra Lessons. Workshops have been designed specifically to increase the performance of students during highly stressful examination periods. They are specifically formulated to help introduce a clear strategy to effectively and successfully prepare for the actual examinations. While Extra Lessons are aimed at helping students increase their foundation and understanding of content throughout the year, Workshops help students cope and perform better under pressure. We highly recommend both “current” and “visitor” students to register for Workshops.
What is the cost of each Workshop and how long are they?
We charge a small fee of R400 per Contact Workshop and each of them last for a minimum of 4 hours. This equates to R100 per hour of tuition. The online version is charged at R200 as the content is a recording from September 2020.
Are the Workshops recorded and can they be viewed later online?
Our Contact Workshops will not be recorded and therefore cannot be viewed online. Should you wish to recap at a later stage, you can register for the Online version and gain access through that.
Are these Workshops for advanced or beginner level students?
We highly encourage ALL students to register for our Workshops. We are certain that no matter the level of the student, these Workshops will be highly beneficial to all.
Should I register for the Online Grade 11 Revision Workshop?
We recommended that students writing their Final examinations revise specific concepts taught throughout the Grade 11 year as they are tested in Matric. Therefore, the Online Grade 11 revision Workshop is specifically designed to help students revise only the necessary concepts needed for Matric. We have broken down our Workshops into separate options so that students only need to attend Workshops that they feel are necessary.
Should I only attend the Workshops to prepare for my examinations or should I also study?
Seventh Star will ALWAYS recommend that a student practices more. Our Workshops are extremely effective, but only lay out an effective strategy for students to successfully prepare for their examinations (Mid-year, Prelims or Finals). It is still highly recommended that after the Workshops, students practice as many past paper exam questions as they can. Examiners tend to follow similar lines of questioning and therefore the more past paper questions a student completes, the more accurately the student will be able to identify the “type” of question in an exam environment.
Do you offer any additional subjects other than Maths and Science?
Unfortunately up to this point, Seventh Star has focused on what we know best: Mathematics and Physical Sciences. We have achieved outstanding results in these disciplines over the past 7 years and our head lecturer has over 25 years of high-quality educational experience.
Do you offer Workshops for Grade 10 and 11’s?
Usually our Workshops are presented to both Grade 11 and Grade 12’s. Unfortunately with all of the unexpected changes that we have experienced throughout 2020 and due to constrained schedules, we will not be offering our Workshops to Grade 11’s.
